Week 1: Read and Summarize 3 Articles

Hello and Hai,

My 1st class was started on 14.02.2013 and that day there are only 4 of us who had registered for authoring class. On that day, we had ice breaking session and a short briefing of L1.

We were told that there are no lecture until the end of February. Then, the second class will be conducted on 7.03.2013. But my classmate and I cannot la goyang kaki sebab our lecturer had leave us with 3 articles that need to be read, understand and summarize. 3 articles are much for me.. hoho..

Ok.. The 3 articles are:

1. Development of Multimedia Authoring Tool for Educationan Material Disseminations ( Mohamad Nizam Ayub, Santhimathy T.Venugopal, Nurul Fazmidar Mohd Nor)

2. Multimedia Authoring tools: The Quest for an Educational Package (Theodore H Kaskalis, Theodore D, Tzidamis, Konstantinos Margaritis)

3. A Review on Authoring Tools (Marya, Khademi, Maryam Haghshenas, Hoda Kabir)

Then, after finish reading the articles we have to summarize what we had read according to these questions:

1. What is Authoring System?
2. Multimedia Courseware vs Web page development,
3. Authoring vs Programming Concepts.
4. How to select appropriate multimedia and web authoring software?

Now, let see what I get from these 3 articles. Ringkasan ini berdasarkan apa yang saya faham.. ^^v

1. Authoring system is a program that can help people who is a non-programmer to come out with a such interactive multimedia as it is designed with simplified programming language which offer simple techniques that allow the integration of the multimedia application. Authoring system consist of pre-programmed elements that can be used in developing of interactive multimedia.  More variety of resources in learning process will lead to the increase in student capability to receive the facts of learning material.

2. Courseware is a instructional material which in the form of interactive mode which facilitate the learning environment for student. There are several advantage that list in the articles. One of the advantage in using courseware is student can involve actively in the learning process and reduces the time taken in order to understand the difficult concepts.  Apart from that, courseware is helpful for student in reviewing the learning materials. Web development is a term in developing a web site for the internet which is World Wide Web (WWW) or an intranet. Web page is resource that can be accessed through web browser and the information usually in the format of HyperText Markup Language (HTML) or Extensible HyperTexr Markup Language. Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) are used for the web pages requesting and served.

3. Authoring is a program that had made people easier to make an interactive multimedia without concern about programming. Authoring had build in program that can be used to integrate the multimedia elements such as audio, video, animation and etc. Just people need to know how the program works.  Programming language such as Pascal, C and C++ are used in  the beginning of developing the educational multimedia application. This situation need people to study and understand the programming language in order to build some interactive multimedia.

4. In order to select appropriate multimedia and web authoring software the articles have list several guidance.
a) Price: First factor to be considered. Even the tool is the greatest, people still seek for the affordable tools.
b) Video, audio,text, sound, image formats: Kalau boleh yang boleh support semua. Tapi depends kepada keperluan.
c)Extensibility: Necessary for trainers who wish to customize the software for specific purpose. This can be done by skilled computer programmer. Jadi, pastikan software adalah open source yang mana coding boleh diubah-ubah.
d) License

All above are what I understand from the articles. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Saya budak baru belajar. Selamat malam dan jumpa lagi.

Lahirnya lagi sebuah blog. This is my second blog.

Di khaskan untuk subjek Authoring System. Sebelum ini dan pada masa sekarang ini saya ada lagi blog yang lain. Tetapi, saya bukan adalah seorang blogger yang baik. Sebab saya jarang "mengupdate". Saya akan update bila saya rasa bahawa saya sangat-sangat la rajin. Tetapi, blog yang sebelum ni pun kawan-kawan yang rapat ja yang tahu.. ngee.. 

Diharapkan dengan wujudnya blog ni rajin la juga saya update "senior" kepada blog ini. Kesian la kan kalau di anak tiri kan. Hee... 

Erm, di sini saya ingin perkenalkan diri saya walaupun anda sudah kenal saya. :) Let see apa yang saya ingin kongsikan.
